Ross Costanza Photography had the honor of photographing Samantha and Bob’s gorgeous wedding at The Chrysler Museum of Art in Norfolk, Virginia.

There are some couples whose love and joy make a permanent impression on our hearts and Sammy and Bob are, without a doubt, one of those couples. Because they live in Ohio, we set up our first meeting over FaceTime. It was so great hearing their story and getting to know them from hundreds of miles away, all while sitting on our couches in our own living rooms. We instantly connected with their high energy and love for adventure. It was the beginning of an awesome friendship!

Excitement levels were through the roof when we arrived to capture their getting ready moments before the big event. Just being around their closest friends and family, it was obvious to us how deeply loved they are. With Sammy and her girls, we had lots of laughs, hugs, tears, and an explosion of champagne. The guys were working hard on their incredible dance moves in preparation for the surprise flash mob planned for the reception.

Once everyone arrived at the gorgeous Chrysler Museum of Art, Sammy and Bob had arranged an intimate “first look” in the garden area. Sammy was escorted to the gate by two of her bridesmaids. She secretly peeked around the corner to catch a small glimpse of her awaiting groom. Making her way down the tree covered pathway, she approached her future husband who stood just beyond the fountain at the center of the garden. Her gentle tap on his shoulder signaled him to turn around and meet her gaze, which prompted the most beautiful and affectionate display of emotion. Everything about their first look was perfect and allowed them those few quiet moments before the festivities commenced.

From there, a first look between Sammy and her father was in order. Probably the way her dad will always think of her from childhood, she enthusiastically ran to him while he was turned the other direction and joyfully threw her arms around him. His papa heart was beaming – no doubt!

After a time of both formal and fun photos with the bridal party and family, it was time to get in place for the ceremony. Harmonies from the string trio, And I Love Her Violins, filled the large atrium room as everyone filed in. We loved the flower grandmas that prepared everyone for the bridal entrance! Sammy was escorted down the aisle by both her mother and father, meeting her beloved under the overflowing and stunning floral chuppah. Their heartfelt vows were recited to one another and, following their pronouncement as husband and wife, they sealed their commitment with a kiss. Following the ceremony, Bob swept Sammy off her feet to recreate an image from Sammy’s parents’ wedding years prior. We loved how she incorporated those sentimental ideas throughout her wedding day.

Details of their magnificent wedding celebration included elegant and dazzling bridesmaids dresses in steel blue with classic black tuxedos for the men. The show-stopping floral arrangements provided by Black Iris Floral Events were out of this world. From the bold entrance piece and the chuppah overflowing with flowers and greenery to the gorgeous bouquets and towering centerpieces, there was no shortage of beauty. The room lighting by Stage Right Lighting Company created the perfect ambiance throughout Huber Court, and provided the most amazing pop of color during the first dances. Their bride and groom signature drinks were a huge hit, and their favors of tiny bottles of olive oil were a sweet touch to send off with their guests.

Once the formalities were completed, this entire group was ready to party! Sammy and Bob made their grand entrance at the top of the staircase, and were sure to grab a quick ‘selfie’ before making their way down the stairs. Never have we seen such energy in a bridal party! The pace at which they danced was truly supernatural. ONYX, the band that kept the party going all night, led the guests in a full dance set before breaking for toasts and dinner. There was not an empty spot on the dance floor. The bridal party broke out in a rehearsed flash mob to the surprise of all the guests. Before the evening was over, Sammy and the groomsmen headed over to the bar for their “Last Man Standing” photo op. It was epic! The happy couple made their grand exit through a tunnel of bubbles, and then drove off to live their happily ever after.
